Minutes from March 17 & 18, 2026 meeting: Motion to accept by Leslie Tomlinson, Second Andrea Schadel, motion carried.
Bishops Comments: Hebrews 10:24 encouraging us to not give up, but rather spur each other on to good works. Take note in Exodus and the building of the tabernacle, the way that not only the large things matter but the detail as small as the thread matters.
Update on the MTF: Conferences are responding and accepting the offer of funding for ministerial training. While we wait for some conferences to respond, we celebrate that nearly half of the funds have been distributed.
Legislation Review:
● Paragraph 511 - ready for upload
● Paragraph 507 Discussion:
○ Dan made a motion to move paragraph 507 forward as presented by Brian and his subteam. Second by Burt Palmer. Motion carried, Debra Davis abstained.
● CLM Legislation Conversation
○ Strike Paragraph 502
○ Create new 405 - to yoke CLM with the local church
○ Clarification of a singular course vs. a program of courses.
○ Clarification for transferring CLM from conference to conference. ○ Significant conversation was had with updates being made in real time. ○ Motion to accept CLM legislation as edited during the meeting by Jane Finley, second Diana Cabauatan. Motion Carried, one abstention.
● CLM Subgroup Information: Motion to table this conversation so that we can be prayerful in discerning our response and decision(s) based on the letter
received from the Heartland Conference. by Burt Palmer. Second, Bridget Douglas, motion carried with one abstention.
● Paragraph 810 Legislation
○ Andy Miller moves to update language to full time employee instead of executive level employee. Second Brian Ebel.
■ Andy amended his motion to change language: no executive level and/or full time employee. Brian’s second remained. Motion carried ○ The rest of 810 will be worked on and approved via email.
● Paragraph 505 will be worked on and approved via email.
● Conversation about Deacon and Elder roles in considering our theology of sacraments began, but was brief. It was suggested that the Ordination Task Force along with the Assembly of Bishops continue this conversation. ● Updates from Subcommittees:
○ The Committee on Approval recommends we reject College of Athens. Motion Carried.
○ The Committee on Approval recommends we move Gordon Conwell to the third round. Motion Carried.
○ The Committee on Approval recommends Moscow Seminary be moved to the second round review. Motion Carried.
