The meeting opened in prayer.
Review & Approval of Minutes:
Motion to approve the minutes Dan Gildner, second Leslie Tomlinson. Motion failed.
Motion from Brian Ebel that the document from 1/5/2025 will be here forward notes, which will be meeting materials for Commission eyes. From here forward, we will have a separate document called minutes with names of attendees, motionable items, with a one or two sentence summary. Seconded by Jane Finley Motion carried.
Motion to approve the presented minutes as notes, Brian Ebel and second by Jane Finley, Motion carried.
Bishop’s Comments: In considering the work we are doing, Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. God had prepared the work and us in advance, this is exciting and comforting to know He has already gone before. A strong reminder to not be anxious, but trust God has prepared us for this time.
Ministerial Training Fund Update: Bridget Douglas makes a motion to approve the documents with adjustment to service being clarified as serving under appointment, clarify that students attending any approved educational program for ordination are eligible to receive funding, and ask the question about securing the future of the fund, potentially a floor minimum. Second Andy Miller III . Motion carries
Subcommittee Updates:
● Committee on Approval:
○ Work continues to outline courses and approve institutions. The Committee on Approval continues to be in close communication with the Assembly of Bishops.
● BOM Cohort
○ Continues to meet and work alongside other committees and boards to bring continuity to the denomination.
Other Discussion:
● The MHED Commission will meet in person March 17-19.
