Conferences Commission

Purpose & Role

The Conferences Commission exists to support the strategic growth and organization of the Global Methodist Church around the world. We make recommendations to the Assembly of Bishops, the Connectional Council, and the General Conference regarding the creation, structure, or modification of annual conferences.

Guided by a global missional vision, the commission identifies regions where establishing new conferences can strengthen the Church’s witness and ministry. We develop criteria for launching conferences—such as geographic scope, number of congregations, financial stability, and appropriate size—and build on proven processes to promote healthy, sustainable growth. We also assist in discerning when existing conferences are ready to multiply, helping expand the Church’s reach and effectiveness.
