Pastor of three UMC churches in North Texas Conference 1986-1997 (Prosper, Howe and Commerce, TX). McCreless Associate Professor of Evangelism at Perkins School of Theology, SMU 1997-2004. Bishop of the UMC 2004-2022. Bishop of the GMC January 2023 to present

I served on the TLC from January, 2023 until General Conference. I presided with other bishops at General Conference. I have worked with seventeen different GMC conferences.

In 1989 I committed to working for the renewal and revitalization of Methodism. I worked in the areas of Wesleyan doctrine, evangelism and discipleship. I have written or co-authored 11 books on these themes.

I am married to Mary Lou Reece. She retired from her work at Reece Construction Company and travels with me almost all of the time. She sees her work at GMC meetings as a calling from God. She speaks to and prays with children and clergy spouses wherever we go. We have three children and seven grandchildren.
